One of these texts was generated by Ai and the other was written by the curator.
What computers and robots lack is human experience and emotion. Computers don’t experience seeing a sunset, watching your child take its first step, or tasting your favorite dessert for the first time. The computer may use these experiences as data for their creations, but the machine has not experienced them itself as it does not have a conscience. Most artists draw upon these personal experiences, influences, and emotions to create their art. There is intention behind their artworks. As far as we know, Ai art has no intention, just algorithms telling it what to make. Anyone can input a prompt and instantly have a “unique” image in the style of any artist. Can the public distinguish between truly original works and the computer generated “originals”? Perhaps knowing that certain artworks were made from human hands or computer algorithms changes how the art is viewed.
In this event, two artists, Alexey Shahov and David Čáp will simultaneously create an artwork with Ai. As the Ai art is projected onto the canvas, the artists will work on top of its creations, merging the three minds of Alexey, David, and the Ai. The three will be working to build a figure, piecing together dismembered body parts that are generated by the Ai. The artists have full control of the input, but the output is completely unpredictable, creating a spontaneous performance. Is this a collaboration or a battle with Ai? The final result will be a hybrid canvas, adorning both human touch and artificial impression.
